To a large extent this might be dictated by distance and cost. If you’ve got a good practitioner on your doorstep, why would you want to drive 30 minutes to see another one unless they offer something special?
A lot of it also comes down to personal preference. If you’re going to talk to someone about your health, it helps if it is someone you feel comfortable with, like and trust.
It also depends on the type of treatment you wish to have. Some people know exactly what they want, others are guided by what is commonly used for their condition, or by a friends recommendation. Similarly some people know they don’t want certain things, such as homeopathy or reiki.
